After 19 minutes, Esteve Ferrer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rafaela AFC and the Piñeyro players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Baldomiro Chano in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maximo Abadie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Zeledon Henric managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rafaela AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zeledon Henric was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maximo Abadie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Modesto Mundo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emilio Larra in the 45th minute of play. Prudencio Roland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Piñeyro were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Zeledon Henric received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Maximo Abadie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
