The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tomás Cordearo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Eliseo Umbruso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's Felix Cresitobalo got control of the ball when Silvio Bakar tried to sneak it across the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's goalkeeper Felix Cresitobalo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Silvio Bakar. In the 13th minute of the match Justino Peruxu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eliseo Umbruso skillfully saved the ball. DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's Ovidio Errando got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomás Cordearo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eliseo Umbruso having to make a save. Silvio Bakar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Felix Cresitobalo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to DEPORTIVO LA RENGA getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Humberto Gustau hit a great ball. With a little luck, DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's Felix Cresitobalo got control of the ball when Silvio Bakar tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Ovidio Errando managed to get in a good position for a shot. DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's supporters rose to their feet, but Ovidio Errando was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eliseo Umbruso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ovidio Errando took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eliseo Umbruso. Eliseo Umbruso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cecilio Piearres stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomás Cordearo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 55 minutes of play Capillas's Jaime Hernando was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of DEPORTIVO LA RENGA booed when Capillas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Hernando didn't get a good kick on the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Capillas's goalkeeper Eliseo Umbruso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás Cordearo. Ovidio Errando's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eliseo Umbruso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. After having played for 75 minutes, Ovidio Errando managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. DEPORTIVO LA RENGA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ovidio Errando was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Isaac Gentza kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Ovidio Errando kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eliseo Umbruso. That made the score 0-2 in the 89 minute of play. After 93 played minutes Capillas got a freekick which was hit by Florentino Venceslas. In the 97th minute Ovidio Errando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliseo Umbruso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Capillas fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. DEPORTIVO LA RENGA were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
