Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Arsenio Ipar started the match with the kick off. After 4 minutes, Jimeno Corderro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tacuarendí and the Petroquímica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tacuarendí's Jimeno Corderro got a free kick in the 4th minute. Teofilo Tonete made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venancio Belo in the 5th minute of play. After 7 played minutes, Petroquímica's Erubiel Johans shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Teofilo Tonete came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Petroquímica reached it. Teofilo Tonete made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvestre Nalo in the 9th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Petroquímica's Silvestre Nalo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teofilo Tonete narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 13thth minute of the game Silvestre Nalo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tacuarendí's Teofilo Tonete was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Anier Loreto kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Tacuarendí's Teofilo Tonete played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Venancio Belo in the 23rd minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Silvio Ugaitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Venancio Belo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 played minutes, Petroquímica's Erubiel Johans shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Teofilo Tonete came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Silvestre Nalo put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Teofilo Tonete. Teofilo Tonete stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvestre Nalo's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Tacuarendí's Melquiades Orlanda got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Petroquímica were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Venancio Belo made a kick off. Rene Derwin kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 55th minute Venancio Belo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teofilo Tonete saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Venancio Belo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petroquímica's supporters rose to their feet, but Venancio Belo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teofilo Tonete breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A hard shot 63 in the game by Silvestre Nalo from a close distance when the talented Teofilo Tonete managed to make a qualified save. Tacuarendí's players were relieved. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 64th minute of the game. One of Tacuarendí:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Petroquímica:s goal. The goalkeeper, Teofilo Tonete, was totally fooled by Petroquímica's Modesto Ubarna, who 66 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a rather tough play, Tacuarendí's Anier Loreto got a free kick in the 71st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvestre Nalo got free with Teofilo Tonete in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Petroquímica getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Ulises Mikeldi hit a great ball. With a little luck, Tacuarendí's Teofilo Tonete got control of the ball when Silvestre Nalo tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Petroquímica getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Celedonio Betadur hit a great ball. Petroquímica's Ulises Mikeldi got his second yellow card of the match in the 89th minute. The referee ordered Ulises Mikeldi off the ground. Tacuarendí's Tobias Enmanuel couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 91st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Petroquímica. Arsenio Ipar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Petroquímica supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Petroquímica would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
