After some careless play in the FREN defense, Joel Ixidor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aurelio Cuarto. The FREN fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aurelio Cuarto should have stopped the shot. After 19 minutes, Nicanor Beti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FREN and the Club Nacional players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FREN getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Nicanor Beti hit a great ball. When FREN's Everardo Iruinea in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 39th minute Everardo Iruinea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcial Blasco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute, Geronimo Jordy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Everardo Iruinea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcial Blasco having to interfere. Marcial Blasco was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Geronimo Jordy showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When Hilario Estefan fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FREN's protests and gave Hilario Estefan a yellow card for diving instead. FREN's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
