Independencia's Romulo Firman got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jairo Goiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Independencia getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Leonides Ticho hit a great ball. 1-0 became the score in the 13th minute when Marco Froila elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Albino Horado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hermengildo Guerau hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. If Marco Froila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Independencia's Ildefonso Baladi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Goiz in the 32nd minute of play. After 33 played minutes Independencia got a freekick which was hit by Virgilio Markel. If Jairo Goiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Independencia's Ildefonso Baladi got control of the ball when Marco Froila tried to sneak it across the goal line. Melquiades Nesto charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Melquiades Nesto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Albino Horado to strike the kick off in the second half. Romulo Firman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 59 minutes into the match, Thames's goalkeeper Albano Millrick had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romulo Firman. When Thames's Jairo Goiz in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Independencia's goalie prevented a goal. Jairo Goiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Ildefonso Baladi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Froila in the 67th minute of play forced Independencia's goalkeeper Ildefonso Baladi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 71 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Jairo Goiz sped through Independencia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ildefonso Baladi. Independencia's Ildefonso Baladi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Goiz in the 78th minute of play. Ildefonso Baladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Froila in the 95th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Leonides Ticho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independencia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thames the free kick. In the 96th minute, Leonides Ticho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Independencia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
