The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anastasio Larra during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gaston Abar struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Alfonso Banegas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esquina. When Fernan Joseph fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Esquina's protests and gave Fernan Joseph a yellow card for diving instead. Fernan Joseph kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Alfonso Banegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaston Abar, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Fernan Joseph shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfonso Banegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fernan Joseph sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 32 played minutes Marcial Bieito rounded Esquina's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernan Joseph to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaston Abar got free with Alfonso Banegas in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcial Bieito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Pedro Montrell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Enrique Padro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Schalke 04 San Juan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Sixto Gelacio charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sixto Gelacio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Salvador Boniel was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Alfonso Banegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernan Joseph in the 91st minute of play. After 93 minutes FC Schalke 04 San Juan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Salvador Boniel who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Jose Petri heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FC Schalke 04 San Juan had won after a very even match.
