After 21 minutes, Jacinto Paublo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club atletico estudiantes and the Los Chavoncitos players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 21st minute, Jacinto Paublo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristobal Kismi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Robustiano Suero. Club atletico estudiantes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Club atletico estudiantes's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Timo came free, but Robustiano Suero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Robustiano Suero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herminio Timo, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Ignacio Jago recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Erasmo Uzuri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Club atletico estudiantes booed when Los Chavoncitos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lisandro Nuñez didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Los Chavoncitos fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Los Chavoncitos's Erasmo Uzuri looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Rosendo Federigo fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club atletico estudiantes's protests and gave Rosendo Federigo a yellow card for diving instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Los Chavoncitos had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
