Domingo Javiero showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Francisco Chap proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Gimnasia y Esgrima LP from getting a goal against them. 14 minutes into the match, Barranca AFC's Rigoberto Vimaro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Francisco Chap narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rigoberto Vimaro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Francisco Chap skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Vinicio Fortun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anastasio Bastia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. After 27 minutes, Amadeo Ignatius mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barranca AFC and the Gimnasia y Esgrima LP players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Gimnasia y Esgrima LP booed when Barranca AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeo Ignatius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francisco Chap made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Rigoberto Vimaro sent off a good shot on target. Francisco Chap showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingo Javiero, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some careless play in the Barranca AFC defense, Virgilio Arce kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anastasio Bastia. The Barranca AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anastasio Bastia should have stopped the shot. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Domingo Javiero was the one to do the kick off. Domingo Javiero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Chap having to interfere. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Vinicio Fortun got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Barranca AFC's Paolo Dantel got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Nereo Guilabertus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the match, Domingo Javiero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Francisco Chap. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Domingo Javiero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 87 played minutes Barranca AFC got a freekick which was hit by Domingo Javiero. Domingo Javiero might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Francisco Chap. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Domingo Javiero ran back to his position shaking his head. Rigoberto Vimaro struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Francisco Chap didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barranca AFC. Domingo Javiero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rogelio Selmo during the 98th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Rogelio Selmo got a free kick in the 99th minute.
