If Eduardo Santikurtz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Santikurtz in the 7th minute of play forced Maza's goalkeeper Albino Todor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albino Todor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anier Calvino in the 8th minute of play. Orlando Henrico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 17 minutes into the game, David Ferran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Spurr AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maza the free kick. An unexpected shot in the 23rd minute by Lisandro Rius got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Orlando Henrico fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Baraquiel having to interfere. Marcelo Baraquiel made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Orlando Henrico sent off a good shot on target. Eduardo Santikurtz might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albino Todor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eduardo Santikurtz ran back to his position shaking his head. Samuel Gorri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Orlando Henrico got free with Marcelo Baraquiel in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eduardo Santikurtz was the one to do the kick off.
