Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Zeledon Modestio got the match started through his kick off. Leo Frascuelo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Lino Gaueko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zeledon Modestio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santo Calixto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nunez Quentin, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ciudadela's zone, Zeledon Modestio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lino Gaueko came out of the goal and Zeledon Modestio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 12 minutes of play, Pearson's Zeledon Modestio made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lino Gaueko was left in no man's land by his defense there! Santo Calixto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nunez Quentin's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. In the 19thth minute of the game Zeledon Modestio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ciudadela's Lino Gaueko was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Jimeno Eutor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ciudadela's supporters rose to their feet, but Jimeno Eutor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santo Calixto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nunez Quentin was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Nunez Quentin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nunez Quentin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 35 minutes into the match, Ciudadela's Amado Carlomagno sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santo Calixto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pearson's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Nunez Quentin scored to the left of an out of position Santo Calixto, making the score, 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The wind increased when Nunez Quentin made the kick off in the second half. Santo Calixto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jimeno Eutor in the 53rd minute of play. Zeledon Modestio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lino Gaueko having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Nunez Quentin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Santo Calixto was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Ciudadela's zone, Leo Frascuelo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lino Gaueko came out of the goal and Leo Frascuelo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pearson's Zeledon Modestio got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lino Gaueko made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leo Frascuelo in the 67th minute. Leo Frascuelo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Lino Gaueko made a huge save. Santo Calixto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nunez Quentin in the 72nd minute of play. With a little luck, Ciudadela's Lino Gaueko got control of the ball when Leo Frascuelo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 86th minute Nunez Quentin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santo Calixto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Nunez Quentin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ciudadela's supporters rose to their feet, but Nunez Quentin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santo Calixto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Celedonio Gelmiro's late challenge caught a Ciudadela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Celedonio Gelmiro helped the player get up and apologised. Ciudadela were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Pearson for a fine match.
