Natalio Berbiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Libertad in the 34th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Iguassu's Israel Rocendo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gregorio Donio. That made the score 1-2 after 36 minutes of play. If Israel Rocendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Emanuel Birjaio sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Gap AFC's Gregorio Donio didn't even have to move. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Arnoldo Cayo's late challenge caught a Iguassu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
