When Romeo Jokin fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Romeo Jokin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeo Jokin to maneuver through the defense. Romulo Locaio had several of the Palermo's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 9 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Rodrigo Barros as he didn't even see the shot coming. When Rodrigo Celino fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceres's protests and gave Rodrigo Celino a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ceres's Rodrigo Celino got a free kick in the 15th minute. Agustin Cebo took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gaston Ondino. Gaston Ondino dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Agustin Cebo struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Gaston Ondino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palermo. 23 minutes into the match, Ceres's goal looked a bit too open when Agustin Cebo came free, but Gaston Ondino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. During the 24th minute of the match Rodrigo Celino completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Rodrigo Celino a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 25th match minute, Ceres was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo Celino to maneuver through the defense. Albano Emesto's late challenge caught a Palermo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albano Emesto helped the player get up and apologised. Ceres's Romulo Locaio got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 40 minutes, Ulises Platon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palermo and the Ceres players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th minute, Romulo Locaio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ceres fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Rodrigo Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Romulo Locaio's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. A hard shot by Rogelio Pere from long distance, 54 minutes into the match, got Gaston Ondino's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. If Rodrigo Bero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 59 minutes, Agustin Cebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palermo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustin Cebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gaston Ondino made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Agustin Cebo sent off a good shot on target. The referee gave Ceres a penalty, 64 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Placido Fidencio, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Palermo's Rodrigo Barros. 3-1. Gaston Ondino acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 71st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ulises Platon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romulo Locaio in the 73rd minute of play forced Palermo's goalkeeper Rodrigo Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Daniel Naike hit a great ball. In the 75th minute, Mateo Gervaso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Romulo Locaio fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceres's protests and gave Romulo Locaio a yellow card for diving instead. Romulo Locaio hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Mateo Gervaso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Agustin Cebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Gaston Ondino made a huge save. In the 86th minute, Ceres's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Agustin Cebo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 88th match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Naike to maneuver through the defense. Palermo's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
