Octavio Ubendu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicolas Orlin having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Octavio Ubendu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lanús FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Octavio Ubendu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicolas Orlin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 9 minutes, Bernardo Bero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carolina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardo Bero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Santiago Alfonso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Bero in the 11th minute of play. Octavio Casado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Alfonso having to interfere. Octavio Casado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Santiago Alfonso made a huge save. After having played for 22 minutes, Octavio Casado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carolina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octavio Casado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 26th minute, Arnaldo Atarratze got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 27 minutes into the game, Victorino Savier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carolina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lanús FC the free kick. The supporters of Lanús FC booed when Carolina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victorino Savier didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute, Gogo Bittor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Carolina getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Nicasio Llanos hit a great ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Arnaldo Atarratze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lanús FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnaldo Atarratze was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Octavio Ubendu was the one to do the kick off. 59 minutes into the match, Carolina's Bernardo Bero sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santiago Alfonso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 66th match minute, Lanús FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliano Iyan to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute of the match Teobaldo Corderro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santiago Alfonso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavio Casado in the 68th minute of play forced Lanús FC's goalkeeper Santiago Alfonso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Octavio Casado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 75 minutes into the match, Carolina's goalkeeper Nicolas Orlin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Arnaldo Atarratze. In the 77th minute, Arnaldo Atarratze made a precise shot to the right of Nicolas Orlin. Carolina's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Arnaldo Atarratze's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nicolas Orlin firmly grabbed it by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Octavio Casado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carolina's supporters rose to their feet, but Octavio Casado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santiago Alfonso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santiago Alfonso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Bero, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavio Casado in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Santiago Alfonso saved Lanús FC from getting behind. Bernardo Bero scored 1-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Santiago Alfonso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Carolina supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Lanús FC's performance. The match ended with a win for Lanús FC.
