When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Baldomero Servando put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Benedicto Bernebe. Baldomero Servando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedicto Bernebe having to interfere. In the 13th minute Eustaquio Urtzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedicto Bernebe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilfredo Timo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Jatsu, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Berdier's zone, Melquiades Montay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfredo Timo came out of the goal and Melquiades Montay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 17 minutes into the match, Berdier's goalkeeper Wilfredo Timo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Melquiades Montay. After a defensive mix-up in Berdier's zone, Aurelio Jatsu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilfredo Timo came out of the goal and Aurelio Jatsu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the match, Frías's Aurelio Jatsu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilfredo Timo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Melquiades Montay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Wilfredo Timo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Frías:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Berdier:s goal. Benedicto Bernebe went to the wrong direction when Luis Mouricio was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. If Placido Handi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Berdier's Wilfredo Timo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelio Jatsu in the 38th minute of play. After 41 minutes of play, Frías's Melquiades Montay made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilfredo Timo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gustavo Gerazan kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eustaquio Urtzi to make the kick off. If Melquiades Montay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Berdier's Eustaquio Urtzi was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 56th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After having played for 59 minutes, Melquiades Montay managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Frías's supporters crossed their fingers, but Melquiades Montay was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Placido Handi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wilfredo Timo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelio Jatsu, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Ignacio Garikoitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
