In the 41st minute, Delmiro Gaueko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. German Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed German Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 43rd match minute, Icaño was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by German Cruz to maneuver through the defense. Alvaro Mikeldi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anibal Basualdo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Icaño's Serafin Eleazar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Martin Garin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Joel Kismi, 73 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Icaño's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Jeremias Aztore scored to the left of an out of position Alvaro Mikeldi, making the score, 2-2.
