When Mario Espiridion fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aguirre's protests and gave Mario Espiridion a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Aguirre getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Mario Espiridion hit a great ball. Leon Berart showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeo Weterio in the 8th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Cortez in the 14th minute of play forced Aguirre's goalkeeper Leon Berart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sorrento booed when Aguirre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mario Espiridion didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 19th minute by Placido Lopes got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The referee gave Aguirre a penalty, 27 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Conrado Luzea, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Sorrento's Silvio Astigar. 1-0. With his leg Silvio Astigar managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Aguirre's Placido Lopes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Placido Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Placido Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aquilino Endura made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Cortez in the 61st minute of play forced Aguirre's goalkeeper Leon Berart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Sorrento's goal looked a bit too open when Aquilino Endura came free, but Silvio Astigar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leon Berart took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leon Berart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Cortez in the 74th minute of play. When Placido Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Aguirre fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Placido Lopes couldn't finish the play. Aguirre's Aquilino Endura got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th match minute, Sorrento was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aldo Regis to maneuver through the defense. Aguirre's Conrado Luzea couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 85th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sorrento. Leon Berart made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amadeo Weterio in the 87th minute. Santo Lico hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the game, Amadeo Weterio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Leon Berart was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Amadeo Weterio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Berart having to interfere.
