The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Candido Haritzeder took the kick off in the first half of the match. Candido Haritzeder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Mannuel having to interfere. If Honorato Bazkoare had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genaro Elija didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andres Beturian went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. If Honorato Bazkoare had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Candido Haritzeder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julian Tristan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Genaro Elija tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Candido Haritzeder came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Iguazú FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Candido Haritzeder couldn't finish the play. Genaro Elija showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Tristan, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Iguazú FC's Genaro Elija played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Tristan in the 34th minute of play. Andres Beturian could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Genaro Elija made a huge save. Clemente Mannuel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Candido Haritzeder, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Candido Haritzeder managed to get in a good position for a shot. Iguazú FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Candido Haritzeder was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clemente Mannuel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Honorato Bazkoare took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Clemente Mannuel. Clemente Mannuel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Julian Tristan made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Iguazú FC's zone, Julian Tristan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Genaro Elija came out of the goal and Julian Tristan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 minutes, Everardo Argina mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Iguazú FC and the Santamarina FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Candido Haritzeder struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Clemente Mannuel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Iguazú FC. After 68 played minutes Iguazú FC got a freekick which was hit by Jimeno Restu. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Juan Gabon during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 71st match minute, Santamarina FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Gabon to maneuver through the defense.
