Serafino Foro's late challenge caught a Cieneguillas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Serafino Foro helped the player get up and apologised. 22 minutes into the game, one of Yatay AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Cieneguillas a penalty, 23 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Fulgencio Arotza, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Yatay AFC's Epifanio Oroitz. 0-1. Severo Iruinea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaias Lehoi in the 28th minute of the match. Flavio Veremundo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Severo Iruinea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rosendo Ekhi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Epifanio Oroitz having to interfere. Saverio Tulio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Epifanio Oroitz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Cieneguillas were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Baldomiro Neto made the kick off in the second half. If Flavio Veremundo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Yatay AFC's Epifanio Oroitz got control of the ball when Saverio Tulio tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Flavio Veremundo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yatay AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavio Veremundo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Severo Iruinea breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
