The audience was convinced that Hermengildo Lorien's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mauro Hori was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. In the 9th minute Cornelio Corderro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilario Gonzalez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnulfo Pere's late challenge caught a Horqueta AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnulfo Pere helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Talleres's Arnulfo Pere got a free kick in the 16th minute. Hilario Gonzalez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornelio Corderro, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Horqueta AFC's Mauro Hori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Lorien in the 27th minute of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Anibal Chago managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Talleres's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anibal Chago was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 31 played minutes Talleres got a freekick which was hit by Arnulfo Pere. Mauro Hori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Lorien, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Talleres booed when Horqueta AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvano Erroman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horqueta AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Talleres the free kick. If Anibal Chago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Talleres supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Talleres would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
