The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricardo Maiorga during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Natalio Eliazar took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Isidoro Geleberto. Valdés FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Valdés FC! The referee gave Piamonte AFC a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Valentin Cordarryl, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Valdés FC's Isidoro Geleberto. 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Uriel Rius managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piamonte AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Uriel Rius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isidoro Geleberto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Narciso Nardo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquin Regis in the 19th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Joaquin Regis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Narciso Nardo guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquin Regis to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquin Regis in the 52nd minute of play forced Piamonte AFC's goalkeeper Narciso Nardo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uriel Rius received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Isidoro Geleberto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Valdés FC's zone, Uriel Rius stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidoro Geleberto came out of the goal and Uriel Rius tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Uriel Rius got free with Isidoro Geleberto in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santo Bonifaco in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Narciso Nardo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Santo Bonifaco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 83 minutes into the match, Piamonte AFC's Edgardo Eneto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isidoro Geleberto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Uriel Rius sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hernan Seguinus kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Valdés FC were awarded a corner in the 96th minute after Piamonte AFC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fernando Obano took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Lázaro Admon managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The Piamonte AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Piamonte AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
