The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Francisco Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Abarca in the 5th minute of play. Pichincha's Francisco Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Abarca in the 7th minute of play. Leonardo Abarca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Lopes having to interfere. Pablo Roano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chañaritos AFC's Cecilio Stephen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Chañaritos AFC from getting a goal against them. Pablo Roano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Cecilio Stephen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hipolito Kelemen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of Chañaritos AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pichincha:s goal. Chañaritos AFC:s Cecilio Stephen showed great skill when he stopped Marciano Jaunzuria:s penalty. In the 45th minute, Marciano Jaunzuria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cecilio Stephen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pablo Roano to strike the kick off in the second half. Donato Bizi struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Cecilio Stephen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pichincha. A collision led to Chañaritos AFC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Eloy Frechoso hit a great ball. Marciano Jaunzuria took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cecilio Stephen. Chañaritos AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Leonardo Abarca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. Francisco Lopes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hipolito Kelemen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Chañaritos AFC's Francisco Lopes threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Hipolito Kelemen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cecilio Stephen came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Pichincha's Donato Bizi. But to his dismay, Donato Bizi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 86th minute Pablo Roano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cecilio Stephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donato Bizi charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Donato Bizi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Pichincha's Donato Bizi got a free kick in the 93rd minute. If Leonardo Abarca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
