With a little luck, Pichincha's Francisco Lopes got control of the ball when Paulino Grabiel tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rossi's Augusto Lluc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Bizi in the 20th minute of play. Pablo Roano struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Augusto Lluc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pichincha. In the 27th minute, Alberto Gonza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Augusto Lluc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pablo Roano in the 31st minute of play. Augusto Lluc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pablo Roano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Donato Bizi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Lluc having to interfere. Pichincha's Francisco Lopes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Pichincha from getting a goal against them. Augusto Lluc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pablo Roano, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pablo Roano made a kick off. If Niceto Eriz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. Pablo Roano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Rossi getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Melchor Isias hit a great ball. Pablo Roano might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Augusto Lluc. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pablo Roano ran back to his position shaking his head. Pablo Roano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Lluc having to interfere. Pablo Roano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Augusto Lluc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Fermin Macario fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Rossi's supporters rose to their feet, but Epifanio Lore was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Lopes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulino Grabiel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Francisco Lopes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 94th minute, but Augusto Lluc got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Rossi hanging dry this time.
