Vladimiro Lordi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Gerardo Damario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Refugio in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Vladimiro Lordi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualterio Kauldi in the 16th minute of play forced Mercedes FC's goalkeeper Hugo Heriberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Gualterio Kauldi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vladimiro Lordi hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 24thth minute of the game Gualterio Kauldi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mercedes FC's Hugo Heriberto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Romeo Guillelmo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Gerardo Damario tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anacleto Arnalt charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anacleto Arnalt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 40 played minutes Mercedes FC got a freekick which was hit by Anacleto Arnalt. After 43 minutes, Fabian Refugio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mercedes FC and the Yalapa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 43rd match minute, Mercedes FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Refugio to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Gerardo Damario made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabian Refugio in the 55th minute. The supporters of Yalapa booed when Mercedes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Abella didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santos Mancio took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hugo Heriberto. Mercedes FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the Mercedes FC defense, Serafin Tomi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Heriberto. The Mercedes FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Heriberto should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eliseo Txerran in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gerardo Damario saved Yalapa from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Yalapa's Vladimiro Lordi got a free kick in the 66th minute. With an all-out effort, Mercedes FC's Gerardo Damario threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eliseo Txerran, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Mercedes FC's Romeo Guillelmo got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mercedes FC's Eliseo Txerran got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eliseo Txerran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Vladimiro Lordi fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yalapa's protests and gave Vladimiro Lordi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 78th minute, Vladimiro Lordi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Txerran in the 82nd minute of play forced Yalapa's goalkeeper Gerardo Damario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Mercedes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gualterio Kauldi came free, but Hugo Heriberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mercedes FC's goalkeeper Hugo Heriberto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gualterio Kauldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mercedes FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Yalapa.
