Elvio Guilabertus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ramiro Colon firmly grabbed it by the left post. Tobias Orixe's late challenge caught a Salto FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tobias Orixe helped the player get up and apologised. The audience cheered when Nicasio Peruanton's long shot passed Ramiro Colon's right side. It was 1-0, 12 minutes into the match. If Eustacio Ferdinand had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Gabriel Amor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gastres FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabriel Amor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Segundo Erramu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Segundo Erramu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Amor, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Ramiro Colon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Iztal in the 26th minute of the match. Segundo Erramu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ramiro Colon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salto FC. With a little luck, Gastres FC's Ramiro Colon got control of the ball when Elvio Guilabertus tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arnoldo Iztal to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Gastres FC booed when Salto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeronimo Madaleno didn't get a good kick on the ball.
