Venancio Tabby came out of the goal and Gilberto Erroman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Inocencio Aztore charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Inocencio Aztore the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Inocencio Aztore hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After having played for 10 minutes, Maximo Rito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yala's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maximo Rito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Erroman in the 13th minute of play forced Rucanelo FC's goalkeeper Venancio Tabby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Placido Sindo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Goi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Freddy Mikelats's late challenge caught a Rucanelo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The attack was good, but when Ciriaco Dayam in the 35th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Ciriaco Dayam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Placido Sindo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Ciriaco Dayam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rucanelo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciriaco Dayam was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Placido Sindo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
