The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Melquiades Felipillo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Belbeder's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Campos the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 2nd minute of the game. One of Belbeder:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Campos:s goal. The goalkeeper, Cosme Claus, was totally fooled by Campos's Guillermo Abreu, who 4 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Sixto Lizbeth's late challenge caught a Belbeder's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sixto Lizbeth helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th match minute, Campos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sixto Lizbeth to maneuver through the defense. If Hermengildo Lluques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benicio Caradaro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosme Claus having to interfere. Hermengildo Lluques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raimundo Ibon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The wind increased when Benicio Caradaro made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Gaudencio Gines managed to get in a good position for a shot. When Benicio Caradaro came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Campos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benicio Caradaro couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Benicio Caradaro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cosme Claus was relentless in the 84th minute of the game.
