Felix Balendin was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 40th match minute, Recalde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliano Baraquiel to maneuver through the defense. Julio Gotzon struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Felix Balendin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. 47 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Fidel Lordi came free, but Carolo Millano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-2 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Horacio Caradaro to make the kick off. Felix Balendin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julio Gotzon went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 7-2 when Edelmiro Garci sped through Recalde's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Felix Balendin. After a defensive mix-up in Recalde's zone, Edelmiro Garci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Balendin came out of the goal and Edelmiro Garci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felix Balendin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 81st minute, Edelmiro Garci left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-2. Edelmiro Garci's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Felix Balendin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After 88th play minutes Edelmiro Garci shot 10-2, a short shot which went by Felix Balendin and just under the crossbar into goal. Fidel Lordi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carolo Millano having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edelmiro Garci in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Felix Balendin saved Recalde from getting behind. When Zeledon Guerau fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Recalde's protests and gave Zeledon Guerau a yellow card for diving instead. In the 95th match minute, Recalde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zeledon Guerau to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Nicolas Txema got a free kick in the 96th minute. River Plate's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
