Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Edelmiro Garci started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edelmiro Garci in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Artemio Arnas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Artemio Arnas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edelmiro Garci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Gotzon's late challenge caught a San Lorenzo Arenales's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julio Gotzon helped the player get up and apologised. After 8 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Julio Gotzon. River Plate's Gervasio Txatxu got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jaime Berriotxoa struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Artemio Arnas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. Artemio Arnas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edelmiro Garci's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. After 15 minutes, Edelmiro Garci made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. San Lorenzo Arenales's Artemio Arnas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Artemio Arnas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Berriotxoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. After 27 minutes, Gervasio Txatxu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River Plate and the San Lorenzo Arenales players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of San Lorenzo Arenales booed when River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gervasio Txatxu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anibal James hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arnulfo Celino during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 33 played minutes San Lorenzo Arenales got a freekick which was hit by Arnulfo Celino. Edelmiro Garci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artemio Arnas having to interfere. After a rather tough play, San Lorenzo Arenales's Mariano Hechter got a free kick in the 37th minute. Artemio Arnas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edelmiro Garci's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edelmiro Garci in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. The audience was convinced that Edelmiro Garci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Artemio Arnas was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Artemio Arnas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edelmiro Garci in the 44th minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Gervasio Txatxu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Artemio Arnas. San Lorenzo Arenales's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gervasio Txatxu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Amancio Ceandro to strike the kick off in the second half. Edelmiro Garcis short, quick shot in the 52ndth minute got Artemio Arnas to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Carolo Millano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amancio Ceandro in the 58th minute of the match. Edelmiro Garci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, River Plate's Anibal James got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 64thth minute of the game Edelmiro Garci who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Lorenzo Arenales's Artemio Arnas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. River Plate were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after San Lorenzo Arenales's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Anibal James took the corner. The corner led River Plate's Anibal James to fire away a dangerous shot which Artemio Arnas despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Edelmiro Garci recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gervasio Txatxu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Artemio Arnas made a huge save. After 79 played minutes Edelmiro Garci rounded San Lorenzo Arenales's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Gervasio Txatxu hit a great ball. After some careless play in the San Lorenzo Arenales defense, Edelmiro Garci kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artemio Arnas. The San Lorenzo Arenales fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artemio Arnas should have stopped the shot. 88 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Amancio Ceandro came free, but Carolo Millano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 90 minutes into the game, River Plate's Edelmiro Garci nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Artemio Arnas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. After a defensive mix-up in San Lorenzo Arenales's zone, Edelmiro Garci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artemio Arnas came out of the goal and Edelmiro Garci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. River Plate's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
