Roman y Lionel's Hugo Neron got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Roman y Lionel booed when Candelaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Fagondo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute, Santos Valiente got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ramiro Nisio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 42 minutes into the match, Hugo Neron dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ramiro Nisio, 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Hugo Neron made the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes Candelaria's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. The corner led Roman y Lionel's Luciano Eate to fire away a dangerous shot which Ramiro Nisio despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Albino Etxatxu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Mikeldi, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. If Hugo Neron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Marcial Chale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Candelaria's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcial Chale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Albino Etxatxu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute, Tiburcio Lizer had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leopoldo Rameriz during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 97th match minute, Roman y Lionel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Rameriz to maneuver through the defense. Marcial Chale could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Albino Etxatxu made a huge save. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Roman y Lionel fully deserved thier win.
