Godofredo Giro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Danel in the 12th minute of play. Teo Bertin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in El angel del gol's zone, Celestino Quinteros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Magnus Söderström came out of the goal and Celestino Quinteros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Godofredo Giro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Danel, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santos Etxekopar in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Magnus Söderström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Amado Nerio charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amado Nerio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 37th match minute, El angel del gol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Nerio to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Atletico River Plate's Celestino Quinteros slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Magnus Söderström. That made the score 1-0 after 39 minutes of play. Paulo Orlan struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Godofredo Giro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El angel del gol. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Santos Etxekopar made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celestino Quinteros in the 52nd minute of play forced El angel del gol's goalkeeper Magnus Söderström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Godofredo Giro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernesto Danel in the 55th minute. In the 61st minute, Ernesto Danel fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Godofredo Giro, passed just outside the right post. 63 minutes into the match, Club Atletico River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Orlan came free, but Godofredo Giro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Magnus Söderström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Abelardo Pepillo's late challenge caught a Club Atletico River Plate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abelardo Pepillo helped the player get up and apologised. Abelardo Pepillo hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Santos Etxekopar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magnus Söderström having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Paulo Orlan managed to get in a good position for a shot. El angel del gol's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Orlan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Godofredo Giro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paulo Orlan spun around in front of the goal 84 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Club Atletico River Plate's goal. Godofredo Giro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Orlan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. For all the effort they put into the match, the El angel del gol players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
