After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in Villaguay's zone, Erubiel Nevada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braulio Orlondo came out of the goal and Erubiel Nevada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 96 minutes into the match, Villaguay's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Remigio came free, but Braulio Orlondo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Villaguay players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
