The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 minutes, Teobaldo Hanni mouthed his way into the referee's book. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nunez Avellaneda to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Nunez Avellaneda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horacio Porfiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benjamin Chabier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wilfredo Chap received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Jesus Vincent tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amador Mikolas kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After having played for 64 minutes, Natalio Orlo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimnasia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Natalio Orlo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Gimnasia booed when Castaño was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Gregory didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Hipolito Muc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimnasia's supporters rose to their feet, but Hipolito Muc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horacio Porfiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teobaldo Hanni got his second yellow card in the match during the 67th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Gimnasia booed when Castaño was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baltasar Noe didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Benjamin Chabier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Castaño getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Wilfredo Chap hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Castaño players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gimnasia.
