Gimnasia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nunez Avellaneda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 26 minutes into the game, Gimnasia's Hipolito Muc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ignacio Vigil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Eugenio Curcio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nunez Avellaneda scored 1-2 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ignacio Vigil, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 37 minutes into the game, Primitivo Senon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gimnasia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Melo the free kick. The supporters of Melo booed when Gimnasia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Senon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38thth minute of the game Eugenio Curcio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gimnasia's Jesus Vincent was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Curcio in the 40th minute of play forced Gimnasia's goalkeeper Jesus Vincent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
