The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Erubiel Frascuelo came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the ateneo.f.c. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erubiel Frascuelo couldn't finish the play. When Ciriaco Tallia fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.S.D Catalina's protests and gave Ciriaco Tallia a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes C.S.D Catalina got a freekick which was hit by Ciriaco Tallia. Felix Montay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Millan having to interfere. When Romeo Ladio came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the C.S.D Catalina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Romeo Ladio couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Felix Montay put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ariel Millan. After 23 played minutes C.S.D Catalina got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Jon. The audience was convinced that Ernesto Ekain's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gogo Ponc was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. In the 29th minute, Felix Montay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Romeo Ladio took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ariel Millan. Ariel Millan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. ateneo.f.c.'s Ariel Millan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montay in the 35th minute of play. With a little luck, C.S.D Catalina's Gogo Ponc got control of the ball when Erubiel Frascuelo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Romeo Ladio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half C.S.D Catalina were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 59th play minutes Erubiel Frascuelo shot 2-2, a short shot which went by Gogo Ponc and just under the crossbar into goal. Gogo Ponc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Ekain in the 69th minute of the match. ateneo.f.c.'s Ernesto Ekain got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, ateneo.f.c.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ciriaco Tallia came free, but Ariel Millan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in ateneo.f.c.'s zone, Romeo Ladio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ariel Millan came out of the goal and Romeo Ladio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Robustiano Vargas kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. The corner led C.S.D Catalina's Alfredo Sadurni to fire away a dangerous shot which Ariel Millan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 91st play minutes Romeo Ladio shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Ariel Millan and just under the crossbar into goal. A collision led to C.S.D Catalina getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Nicolas Duarte hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 3-3 when Ernesto Ekain sped through C.S.D Catalina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gogo Ponc. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
