The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Higinio Santio during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Buchanan's Higinio Santio got a free kick in the 9th minute. Orlando Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pastor Llorienzo in the 10th minute of play. Buchanan's Orlando Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Ascencio in the 11th minute of play. In the 15th minute Pastor Llorienzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orlando Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Orlando Estavan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Victor Galeno went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Orlando Estavan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcelo Ascencio's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Pastor Llorienzo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Orlando Estavan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SS Español's Ciro Xabier got a free kick in the 35th minute. Buchanan's Orlando Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pastor Llorienzo in the 38th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Buchanan's zone, Ciro Xabier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Orlando Estavan came out of the goal and Ciro Xabier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ermegildo Nabar charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ermegildo Nabar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Buchanan getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Ermegildo Nabar hit a great ball. Marcelo Ascencio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Ermegildo Nabar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Pastor Llorienzo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Orlando Estavan made a huge save. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Buchanan's goalkeeper Orlando Estavan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Victor Galeno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Omar Aurken charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Omar Aurken the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of SS Español booed when Buchanan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Aurken didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pastor Llorienzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Victor Galeno fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Orlando Estavan, passed just outside the right post. 78 minutes into the match, Buchanan's goalkeeper Orlando Estavan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pastor Llorienzo. Victor Galeno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Estavan having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, SS Español's Victor Galeno ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Orlando Estavan. Orlando Estavan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. During the 96th minute of the match Higinio Santio completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Higinio Santio a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Buchanan getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Higinio Santio hit a great ball. When the match was over SS Español could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Buchanan throughout the match.
