Blas Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Ernesto Sarracino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Prospero Ixona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Rafael Lauren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Blas Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 27 minutes into the match, Berreta's goalkeeper Justino Llope had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Santos Guillem. If Santos Guillem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Huargos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Lauren came free, but Ernesto Sarracino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Blas Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Sarracino having to interfere. Ernesto Sarracino came out of the goal and Rafael Lauren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rafael Lauren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ernesto Sarracino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Blas Santos to make the kick off.
