In the 14th match minute, Godoy Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isaias Luken to maneuver through the defense. Sebastian Raymundo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maxen Cassano in the 16th minute of play. Sebastian Raymundo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feliciano Vimaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isaias Luken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juhani Pihlainen having to interfere. Evaristo Chesus took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juhani Pihlainen. Juhani Pihlainen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Juhani Pihlainen made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Evaristo Chesus sent off a good shot on target. Feliciano Vimaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Sebastian Raymundo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Red Hot Chili Peppers's Maxen Cassano in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Godoy Cruz's goalie prevented a goal. Red Hot Chili Peppers's Maxen Cassano got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute of the game Americo Roland made a throw-in which Delmar Chale played forward.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maxen Cassano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Red Hot Chili Peppers's Juhani Pihlainen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaias Luken in the 51st minute of play. If Victorino Koldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Isaias Luken succeeded in the game's 57th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Victorino Koldo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Godoy Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Victorino Koldo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juhani Pihlainen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Evaristo Chesus came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Godoy Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Chesus couldn't finish the play. Evaristo Chesus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juhani Pihlainen having to interfere. Maxen Cassano kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Godoy Cruz's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Baturhan Toprak in the 72nd minute. The corner led Godoy Cruz's Baturhan Toprak to fire away a dangerous shot which Juhani Pihlainen despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of Red Hot Chili Peppers booed when Godoy Cruz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baturhan Toprak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maxen Cassano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 82 minutes into the match, Red Hot Chili Peppers's goal looked a bit too open when Gaspar Cuartio came free, but Juhani Pihlainen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evaristo Chesus in the 84th minute of play forced Red Hot Chili Peppers's goalkeeper Juhani Pihlainen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 89 minutes, Isaias Luken mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Godoy Cruz and the Red Hot Chili Peppers players grew even worse after the yellow card. Red Hot Chili Peppers were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
