The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Fontezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Eliazar came free, but Froilan Matthew reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo Demesio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raquel's Samuel Arano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Demesio in the 8th minute of play. Basilio Darien charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basilio Darien the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Basilio Darien hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 11th minute Silvio Oxarra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Arano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Samuel Arano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvio Oxarra, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. A collision led to Raquel getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Humberto Menendo hit a great ball. Silvio Oxarra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Samuel Arano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Marcelo Eliazar notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Fontezuela's Froilan Matthew. Froilan Matthew was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Froilan Matthew was a little too slow when Marcelo Eliazar got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 28th minute. The score was now 2-0. After having played for 33 minutes, Silvio Oxarra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fontezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvio Oxarra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnaldo Demesio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Arano having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, David Benet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Raquel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fontezuela the free kick. In the 36th match minute, Raquel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Benet to maneuver through the defense. Raquel's Basilio Darien got his second yellow card of the match in the 38th minute. The referee ordered Basilio Darien off the ground. After 39 played minutes Raquel got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Darien. When Silvio Oxarra came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Fontezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silvio Oxarra couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arnaldo Demesio was the one to do the kick off. Arnaldo Demesio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Samuel Arano made a huge save. In the 57th minute, Arnaldo Demesio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Samuel Arano. The goal made the score 2-1. Samuel Arano was a little too slow when Arnaldo Demesio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 2-2. Arnaldo Demesio's late challenge caught a Raquel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnaldo Demesio helped the player get up and apologised. Arnaldo Demesio hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. When Marcelo Eliazar came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Raquel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelo Eliazar couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramon Atarratze in the 68th minute of play forced Fontezuela's goalkeeper Froilan Matthew to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Arnaldo Demesio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fontezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Demesio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Samuel Arano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramon Atarratze blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Froilan Matthew having to make a save. Melchor Oroitz charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Samuel Arano acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 95th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jacobo Ponce.
