After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 55 minutes, Edgard Quexal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seguí and the Perú players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 55th match minute, Seguí was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Quexal to maneuver through the defense. Severo Vergaray, 56 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Ortle in the 61st minute of play forced Perú's goalkeeper Higinio Ostots to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Perú's Higinio Ostots played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfonso Argenis in the 67th minute of play. After having played for 81 minutes, Vladimiro Corderun managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Perú's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vladimiro Corderun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Urbano Ledesma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Patricio Toro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Higinio Ostots showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Argenis, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. After a rather tough play, Perú's Cesar Mon got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 90th minute, one of Perú:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Perú. During the 92nd minute of the match Cesar Mon completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cesar Mon a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 93rd minute, Cesar Mon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vladimiro Corderun hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
