After having played for 18 minutes, Santo Nuno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Schalke 04's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santo Nuno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rene Estevez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Tobias Cutberto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, FC Schalke 04's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Tiso came free, but Florentino Eguntsenti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Tiso in the 27th minute of play forced FC Schalke 04's goalkeeper Florentino Eguntsenti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, FC Schalke 04's goalkeeper Florentino Eguntsenti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raimundo Medero. Fernando Tiso received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Florentino Eguntsenti came out and tried to block the shot, but Fernando Tiso slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 30th minute. After 35 minutes, Adrian Licerio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palma FC and the FC Schalke 04 players grew even worse after the yellow card. 34 minutes into the game, one of Palma FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Rene Estevez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florentino Eguntsenti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Placido Montel in the 42nd minute of the match. Rene Estevez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 54th match minute, Palma FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Tiso to maneuver through the defense. In the 55th minute, Santo Nuno got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 59 minutes, Santo Nuno made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Palma FC's Tobias Cutberto tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Santo Nuno managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Schalke 04's supporters rose to their feet, but Santo Nuno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tobias Cutberto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. During the 74th minute of the match Nunez Osorio completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nunez Osorio a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Palma FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Nunez Osorio hit a great ball. When Santo Nuno came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the FC Schalke 04 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santo Nuno couldn't finish the play. Adrian Licerio kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Tobias Cutberto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santo Nuno, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Raimundo Medero kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Santo Nuno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobias Cutberto having to interfere. Rene Estevez scored 1-3 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tobias Cutberto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 95th minute, Rene Estevez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Schalke 04 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. When the final whistle sounded FC Schalke 04 left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palma FC.
