Club Atlético Libertador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lino Jakue was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Manchester Champagne F.C's Teofilo Orti got control of the ball when Ignacio Mero tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th minute Ignacio Mero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teofilo Orti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 43rd minute of the game. One of Manchester Champagne F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Club Atlético Libertador:s goal. Ignacio Mero might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Teofilo Orti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ignacio Mero ran back to his position shaking his head. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
