A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Teodosio Telesforo hit a great ball. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Luís Islas, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some careless play in the Las 3R Club De Fútbol defense, Sidónio Candeias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luís Islas. The Las 3R Club De Fútbol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luís Islas should have stopped the shot. Newell´s's Jesus Gitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Venceslas in the 23rd minute of play. Luís Islas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tzvetomir Gruykin's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Sidónio Candeias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Islas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The long shot by Federico Peio in the 28th minute really tested Luís Islas's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Enzo Scifo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 34 minutes, Sidónio Candeias made it 5-0 with a short kick to the right side. Las 3R Club De Fútbol's Luís Islas tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 47 minutes into the game, Horea Ilie was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newell´s's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Las 3R Club De Fútbol the free kick. Horea Ilie kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 6-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tzvetomir Gruykin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luís Islas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidónio Candeias in the 53rd minute of the match. Federico Peio hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Federico Peio hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Las 3R Club De Fútbol's goal looked a bit too open when Rogelio Larralde came free, but Luís Islas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Newell´s's Duro Pene was substituted for Andres Chorache. After 68 played minutes Newell´s got a freekick which was hit by Tzvetomir Gruykin. Iker Cordairo hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Tzvetomir Gruykin succeeded in the game's 74th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 7-0. Luís Islas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tzvetomir Gruykin in the 80th minute of the match. Sidónio Candeias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Islas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. In the 89th minute, Enzo Scifo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jesus Gitano. The goal made the score 7-1. The supporters of Las 3R Club De Fútbol booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Banegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Las 3R Club De Fútbol's Luís Islas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Banegas in the 95th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Newell´s had won after a very even match.
