The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Isótopos V.M.'s Albeiro Usuriaga got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 9th minute Albeiro Usuriaga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higinio Aguilera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignacio Di Stasi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Demy Ottens in the 10th minute of the match. In the 15th minute, Luís Fábio Rocha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ignacio Di Stasi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Orvar Carlsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Isótopos V.M.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Orvar Carlsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Higinio Aguilera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luís Fábio Rocha scored 0-2 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ignacio Di Stasi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 28 minutes into the match, Isótopos V.M.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fábio Rocha came free, but Ignacio Di Stasi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 33rd minute of the game. One of Los Hijos de Doña Beija:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Isótopos V.M.:s goal. When the match had been going on for 34 minutes, Isótopos V.M.'s Albeiro Usuriaga got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Higinio Aguilera. Albeiro Usuriaga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Higinio Aguilera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute of the match Isótopos V.M. got a corner. Los Hijos de Doña Beija's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Taribo West ran over to the corner to take the kick. Orvar Carlsson made a great header on Isótopos V.M.'s corner, it was just that Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Higinio Aguilera managed to reach the ball for a save. Ignacio Di Stasi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fábio Rocha in the 42nd minute of play. Higinio Aguilera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albeiro Usuriaga, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albeiro Usuriaga made a kick off. Isótopos V.M.'s Gustaw Jaraczeski quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Abelardo Domenec, made in the 53rd minute of the game. A sloppy throw-in by Domingo Oihenarte in the 54th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Los Hijos de Doña Beija's Venancio Sandaili. 57 minutes into the match, Luís Fábio Rocha notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Isótopos V.M.'s Ignacio Di Stasi. Ignacio Di Stasi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Abelardo Domenec got a throw-in 61 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Demy Ottens. Ignacio Di Stasi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fábio Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Fábio Rocha in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ignacio Di Stasi saved Isótopos V.M. from getting behind.
