Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Matthew Stone made the kick off which started today's match. Matthew Stone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Austin Eagles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrew Shipley in the 10th minute of play. Andrew Crocker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Callum Goodwick, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute, Chris Kidd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matthew Stone in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Austin Eagles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute, Matthew Stone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andrew Crocker made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Brian Newbury sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Callum Goodwick in the 28th minute of play forced Abbey Wood's goalkeeper Andrew Crocker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matthew Stone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Austin Eagles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Abbey Wood booed when Wem United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garth Marston didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Matthew Stone came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Abbey Wood fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matthew Stone couldn't finish the play. Mike Gardener hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Callum Goodwick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Andrew Crocker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Wem United's zone, Matthew Stone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Austin Eagles came out of the goal and Matthew Stone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Callum Goodwick made the kick off in the second half. Kieran Winterburn's late challenge caught a Wem United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kieran Winterburn helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Abbey Wood's Kieran Winterburn got a free kick in the 54th minute. Andrew Crocker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Callum Goodwick, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Matthew Stone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 63rd match minute, Wem United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rueben Hunt to maneuver through the defense. If Brian Newbury had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Brian Newbury managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wem United's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Newbury was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrew Crocker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matthew Stone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Brian Newbury managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wem United's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Newbury was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrew Crocker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Abbey Wood defense, Brian Newbury kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andrew Crocker. The Abbey Wood fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andrew Crocker should have stopped the shot. Matthew Stone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Austin Eagles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
