Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ozzy Floyd started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After 2 played minutes Oadby United got a freekick which was hit by Dominic Cooke. Shane Rider made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marty Sharpe in the 5th minute of play. Oadby United's Shane Rider proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Oadby United from getting a goal against them. Shane Rider showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marty Sharpe, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. A collision led to Oadby United getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Patrick Bedford hit a great ball. Ozzy Floyd kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Kristopher Pullen kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. If Patrick Bedford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bill Hutchins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ozzy Floyd in the 20th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Hampton in Arden's zone, Marcus Robinson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bill Hutchins came out of the goal and Marcus Robinson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 24 minutes, Robert Bonds mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hampton in Arden and the Oadby United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Oadby United booed when Hampton in Arden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Bonds didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute of the match Oadby United got a corner. Hampton in Arden's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gregory Merchant ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Oadby United's Marcus Robinson to a score. 1-1 in the 27th minute. Ozzy Floyd took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bill Hutchins. Bill Hutchins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. If Marcus Robinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Ozzy Floyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ozzy Floyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Hutchins having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Oadby United's Ozzy Floyd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bill Hutchins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marty Sharpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Shane Rider tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Oadby United were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marty Sharpe made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Ozzy Floyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Hutchins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marty Sharpe in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Shane Rider prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marty Sharpe blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Shane Rider having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Hampton in Arden's Eric Rhodes got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Ozzy Floyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bill Hutchins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute Oadby United were awarded a corner. Gregory Merchant went to the cornerflag to take it. Oadby United were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after Hampton in Arden's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gregory Merchant took the corner. Jools Nightingale kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Marty Sharpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Shane Rider tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 73 minutes of play, Hampton in Arden's Kristopher Pullen made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Shane Rider was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kristopher Pullen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shane Rider read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. 80 minutes into the game, Marty Sharpe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Shane Rider was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Marcus Robinson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oadby United's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus Robinson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bill Hutchins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oadby United's Shane Rider played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kristopher Pullen in the 86th minute of play. After 88 played minutes Hampton in Arden got a freekick which was hit by Eric Rhodes. Marcus Robinson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bill Hutchins read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. 98 minutes into the game, Hampton in Arden's Kristopher Pullen nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Shane Rider made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Hampton in Arden had won after a very even match.
