The audience was convinced that Jamie Paine's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Keanu Endean was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Lee Greaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keanu Endean having to interfere. When Christian Perkins fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Burnham on Crouch United's protests and gave Christian Perkins a yellow card for diving instead. Jamie Paine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Wimbledon getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Kelvin Roebuck hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Liam Rowett in the 19th minute of play forced Wimbledon's goalkeeper Bill Cryer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th match minute, Wimbledon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddie Branson to maneuver through the defense. Bradley Barber blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bill Cryer having to make a save. Liam Rowett recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jamie Paine received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Keanu Endean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lee Greaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the game, Marc Marlow was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Burnham on Crouch United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wimbledon the free kick. In the 27th minute, Marc Marlow hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Keanu Endean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Greaves in the 30th minute of play. If Liam Rowett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Perkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Liam Rowett made a kick off. Greg Crocker charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Greg Crocker the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 52 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Wimbledon! After a defensive mix-up in Wimbledon's zone, Liam Rowett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bill Cryer came out of the goal and Liam Rowett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keanu Endean made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Lee Greaves sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Joe Sanderson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jamie Paine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keanu Endean having to interfere. Wimbledon's Lee Greaves got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Burnham on Crouch United's Liam Rowett got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bradley Barber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Cryer having to interfere. Liam Rowett blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bill Cryer having to make a save. Bill Cryer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Liam Rowett, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Bill Cryer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 97 minutes into the match, Burnham on Crouch United's goalkeeper Keanu Endean had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lee Greaves. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Burnham on Crouch United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Wimbledon had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
