Casey Lock charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Casey Lock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Casey Lock hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Nicholas Ridsdale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucas Beck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steven Shepherd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sawbridgeworth City's Lucas Beck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steven Shepherd in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match Christian Pollock sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jeff Grainger skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Norman Hooker during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lucas Beck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven Shepherd, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Royal Oak's Jeff Grainger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Royal Oak from getting a goal against them. When Steven Shepherd came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Royal Oak fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Shepherd couldn't finish the play. Harry Faith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Lucas Beck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Steven Shepherd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucas Beck read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Jeff Grainger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Patrick Fletcher in the 45th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Patrick Fletcher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Jeff Grainger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Roger Neville during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 56 played minutes Sawbridgeworth City got a freekick which was hit by Roger Neville. In the 57thth minute of the game Harry Faith who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sawbridgeworth City's Lucas Beck was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Steven Shepherd took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lucas Beck. Lucas Beck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to Royal Oak getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Liam Croft hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicholas Ridsdale in the 66th minute of play forced Royal Oak's goalkeeper Jeff Grainger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicholas Ridsdale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicholas Ridsdale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had been going on for 83 minutes, Royal Oak's Gareth Jenkinson got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Lucas Beck. After 85 minutes, Charlie Cawood mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sawbridgeworth City and the Royal Oak players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Sawbridgeworth City getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Charlie Cawood hit a great ball. Jeff Grainger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicholas Ridsdale in the 93rd minute of the match. If Nicholas Ridsdale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicholas Ridsdale hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Lucas Beck stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Harry Faith's shot from short distance in the 99th minute.
