Vaxta Kópaskeri:s Árgeir Smárason showed great skill when he stopped Andrés Loftsson:s penalty. Albert Maríusarson hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 10 minutes into the game, Geirfinnur Guðleifsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nova Flateyri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vaxta Kópaskeri the free kick. A collision led to Nova Flateyri getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Geirfinnur Guðleifsson hit a great ball. Kolur Böðvarsson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Hrafnbergur Eiríksson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Árgeir Smárason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Finngeir Gunnlaugsson in the 17th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, Nova Flateyri's Finngeir Gunnlaugsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Árgeir Smárason narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Bæring Svavarsson fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vaxta Kópaskeri's protests and gave Bæring Svavarsson a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vaxta Kópaskeri getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Bæring Svavarsson hit a great ball. Geirfinnur Guðleifsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Árgeir Smárason having to interfere. 27 minutes in the game, Kolur Böðvarsson fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Hrafnbergur Eiríksson having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Efraím Egilsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nova Flateyri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vaxta Kópaskeri the free kick. In the 38th minute, one of Nova Flateyri:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Nova Flateyri. The referee gave Vaxta Kópaskeri a penalty, 40 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Starkaður Hauksson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Nova Flateyri's Hrafnbergur Eiríksson. 1-0. Margrímur Hallsson kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Finngeir Gunnlaugsson struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Árgeir Smárason didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nova Flateyri. Finngeir Gunnlaugsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geirfinnur Guðleifsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hrafnbergur Eiríksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Maríusarson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Nova Flateyri's Reifnir Unnarsson got a free kick in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Kolur Böðvarsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hrafnbergur Eiríksson. Nova Flateyri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kolur Böðvarsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Starkaður Hauksson hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. When Finngeir Gunnlaugsson came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Nova Flateyri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Finngeir Gunnlaugsson couldn't finish the play. Kolur Böðvarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Hrafnbergur Eiríksson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Múli Óttarsson kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. After 85 minutes of play, Vaxta Kópaskeri's Kolur Böðvarsson made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hrafnbergur Eiríksson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vaxta Kópaskeri's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
