Ingi Hallmundsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Máni Reyrsson in the 7th minute of the match. Hildiglúmur Axelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Ástvin Ásmundarson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Hildiglúmur Axelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Anas Húsavík's Ástvin Ásmundarson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hildiglúmur Axelsson in the 14th minute of play. Fróðmar Ráðgeirsson struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Ingi Hallmundsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Anas Húsavík. After having played for 25 minutes, Hermundur Hallmundsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Afköst Mývatni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hermundur Hallmundsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hildiglúmur Axelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Sölmundur Júlíansson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Afköst Mývatni's supporters rose to their feet, but Sölmundur Júlíansson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ástvin Ásmundarson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 30thth minute of the game Hildiglúmur Axelsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Anas Húsavík's Ástvin Ásmundarson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hildiglúmur Axelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Ástvin Ásmundarson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fróðmar Ráðgeirsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ingi Hallmundsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hildiglúmur Axelsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Hermundur Hallmundsson hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 58th match minute, Afköst Mývatni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Óskar Ellertsson to maneuver through the defense. Bjartþór Gylfason received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Ingi Hallmundsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hildiglúmur Axelsson in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ástvin Ásmundarson saved Anas Húsavík from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Anas Húsavík's zone, Hildiglúmur Axelsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ástvin Ásmundarson came out of the goal and Hildiglúmur Axelsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Anas Húsavík defense, Hildiglúmur Axelsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ástvin Ásmundarson. The Anas Húsavík fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ástvin Ásmundarson should have stopped the shot. Ástvin Ásmundarson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hildiglúmur Axelsson's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. 79 minutes into the match, Hildiglúmur Axelsson notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Anas Húsavík's Ástvin Ásmundarson. Ástvin Ásmundarson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 85 minutes of play, Afköst Mývatni's Hildiglúmur Axelsson made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ástvin Ásmundarson was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Hildiglúmur Axelsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ástvin Ásmundarson was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. In the 89th minute, Hildiglúmur Axelsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 94 minutes, Sölmundur Júlíansson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Afköst Mývatni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sölmundur Júlíansson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afköst Mývatni's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
