Goð Kópaskeri's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aðalbergur Boðason was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th minute, Aðalbergur Boðason left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Goð Kópaskeri fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 14 minutes into the match, Þráinn Selfossi's goal looked a bit too open when Aðalbergur Boðason came free, but Lúther Geislason reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Þráinn Selfossi's Lúther Geislason played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermann Emilsson in the 16th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Þórhalli Aðalsteinsson in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sigurjón Geraldsson saved Goð Kópaskeri from getting behind. Lúther Geislason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aðalbergur Boðason in the 21st minute of the match. Hlíðberg Borgþórsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Sigurjón Geraldsson made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Hlíðberg Borgþórsson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sigurjón Geraldsson. That made the score 2-2 in the 27 minute of play. When Pjetur Maríasson came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Þráinn Selfossi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pjetur Maríasson couldn't finish the play. When Hermann Emilsson came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Goð Kópaskeri fans jumped to their feet. Lúther Geislason breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Goð Kópaskeri's Þorvarður Kolsson got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Þorvarður Kolsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Goð Kópaskeri's Sigurjón Geraldsson got control of the ball when Hlíðberg Borgþórsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aðalbergur Boðason made a kick off. Hermann Emilsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúther Geislason having to interfere. If Aðalbergur Boðason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Þórhalli Aðalsteinsson in the 69th minute of play forced Goð Kópaskeri's goalkeeper Sigurjón Geraldsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Þórhalli Aðalsteinsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sigurjón Geraldsson. Goð Kópaskeri's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Þórhalli Aðalsteinsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Lúther Geislason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aðalbergur Boðason, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Goð Kópaskeri may have spent more time on the ball, but Þráinn Selfossi were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
